Reference section is established in 1884.This is the core part of library.The basic objective of the reference section is to assist the clientele to use resources of the library in an effective manner leading to their optimum utilization. Reference service is the most intensive kind of personal service which attempts to bring the user and information together in a smooth way. Punjab public library proudly presents reference services including the professional advice and assistance by the efficient library staff to assist patrons in using the library resources or making enquiries by E-mails and telephones to meet their information needs. Reference section includes range of information products, such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, directories, almanacs, yearbooks, thesaurus, atlases and gazetteers etc.Dedicated library staff provides efficient and reliable reference services to its patrons, such as, research assistance, document delivery service, selective dissemination of information, inter-library loans, readers’ advisory service and library orientation sessions. Moreover, section is equipped with computer systems for searching library catalogue.
