Government Punjab Public Library has a legitimized duty to perform by providing adequate library services to the children of the locality. A separate children section was established on ground floor in March 1982. Children section consists of general as well as reference books. Books are selected to suit the interest and the level of understanding of the young and the growing minds. A wide range of reading materials comprising illustrated books, children biographies, historical and Islamic books, books on Quaid-e-azam and Allama Iqbal both in English and Urdu languages have been provided in the section. The method adopted is identical with that of the circulation section except that books and periodicals are acquired with the view to serve junior readers up to 14 years of age. Total collection in children sectio is 8525 books.This section is serving as reading hall too. Four children magazines (monthly) are purchased. Current issues of these magazines are displayed on magazine rack whereas back issues are bound and kept in Periodical section.
