Acquisition and Technical

Collection Development is a continuous process in library. Library always seeks to acquire new and the latest materials for library users. This section of library is responsible for the selection and purchase of materials and is used for acquiring books for the library from renowned booksellers. The selection of books is made by the Books Selection Committee comprising of subject specialists. Reader's suggestions are given due consideration while purchasing books for the library. A policy of book selection is followed for the purchase of books and government procedures are adopted for procurement.This section is responsible for receiving, processing, labeling books and updating the books database. Books and other library materials are also classified and catalogued. Twenty third edition of Dewey Decimal Classification System is being used for classification while AACR-2 is followed for cataloging. Cards are typewritten. Reference material is kept in the reference section and all other books are sent to the library shelves for circulation. It plays a key role to function the library.
